Title: I blacked out my taillight panel
Post by: Vorpal on July 05, 2008, 02:43:09 PM
I doubt that I'm the first person to do this, but I think it looks pretty good so here are some pics:

If I would have had some flat black I would have used that, but I didn't so it's in semi-flat black.

I don't get it.  If you were going to actually paint on your car wouldn't you go ahead and spring the $5 for a good can of flat black?  But if you like it and you're not hurting anyone, then go for it!

...or check out bavauto.com. They have the filler plates, and they're only $32.

I actually painted my filler plate white to match the car. I didn't like the black plastic look between the tail lights.

Each to their own though.

If your happy with it, that's all that matters.

enjoy your own individuality.

I like it! The black fin accents it nicely! IMHO I'd say go with smoked tail lights to finish the deal :)

Also check into the Euro Plate filler, it makes it more flush back there.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions ;)

I like the semi-flat, actually. It's a good match for the semi-flat look of the black bumper trim. I wasn't about to spend $32 on a plastic filler panel. Right now any money spent on the car goes toward maintenance/repair. Therefore, I used what I had on the shelf rather then buy another can of paint, and it worked out nicely.

Fixed the rust around my tag light holes and then did the same thing.

I should have just got a plate filler.

Looks very nice on a white car too i'd say a little better than red! filler plate is less custom lol

I got a black filler plate and I'll do all red tails on my brilliantrot.
I'll also be painting the spoiler black and am thinking of repainting the bumper strips black for a nice new look. It'll be all red and black contrast.
