Hey guys I'm trying to find a tunable ecu for a 95 318i E36 turbo build. I've tried searching everywhere and can't seem to find anything...Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

every standalone with the right amount of money can be fitted! It's the M42 engine?
-
Yeah I just dropped it in with 87000 miles. Do I really need a standalone if I'm running low boost like 6 or 7 psi?
-
I would recommend a stand alone for any turbo application. You don't just want any stand alone either. Make sure it has an integrated knock sensor, and for best performance get something that also uses a MAP sensor. Vic Sias did my Tec3R.

For that low boost I wouldn't go standalone.
Check this thread: http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5871 he is fitting Greddy Emanage, it cost a lot less than a standalone.
- Downing Atlanta supercharger use a simply FMU, it works but the AFR aren't so nice around the revs
Or simply there is a guy that does custom ecu chipping? you can always work with the original ecu;)
Another option: Megasquirt...

Yes, it's cheaper but not so cheap, emanage the unit-380$,all the wiring harnes an the boost sensor -250$,and the support tool another 130$,you'll need to the wide band controller, and the gauge if you want full time monitoring ,I got mine for 300$ from Innovate. The easiest way is to chip the the ECU

try SMT6 http://perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp i have many turboprojects and aways have grеat results with smt6. My 318is turbo has 380hp and 560nm on rear wheels and i use smt6 and map sensor.

Thanx guys this has really helped alot. Are these difficult to install, soldering wire chasing, etc.? Or is it pretty much plug n play? Do these leave the obnoxious check engine light on all the time?
-
Also do all of you guys have the E36 type ECU or E30? Cause I'm tryin to find one for an E36...Is aftermarket installation similar?
-
For instalation on SMT6 it takes 30-minutes to one our and than we go to make mapping ;)

Think I'm going with SMT6 thanks for all the help guys. I'm sure I'll have more questions later. I'll start posting pics once I get things set up.
