Title: RE; Water leak around oil filter housing
Post by: jason318is on July 02, 2008, 04:21:25 AM
Hi All,
this my first post on M42 club....so hello to everyone.

over the weekend i noticed i've developed a water leak just behind the oil filter housing(see photo).

i know its pretty hard to see where the water is coming from, but are there waterways that run into the filter housing?

any suggestions welcome.

cheers

jason

As far as I know, there are no coolant passages through the oil filter but there is a water pipe right behind the oil filter and various coolant hoses. Chances are it is one of those leaking. The posting here might explain it a little better:

yep thats either the O ring inside the plastic pipe or the pipe is cracked.. i made the mistake of doing all my hoses and not replacing it and within 2 hours of having new hoses i blew it up
