Title: Turbo FAQs
Post by: redmist on July 01, 2008, 05:11:49 PM
M42's have 10:1 compression. If you lowered compression how did you do it, shaved pistons, thicker HG, custom pistons? How much boost are you turbo guys running? Any head gasket issues? Anyone running megasquirt?
Might be nice to start a sticky for turbo info.

I used pistons from a M54B30 engine (330/530 etc) which lowered CR to about 8.5-8.6:1. Currently running 14.5 psi boost with original headgasket and bolts and no problems so far. Got 296 rwhp on a dynapack 4000.

Awesome!
What engine management are you using?
Injectors size?
Using a knock sensor?
Model of turbo?
What RPM do you start getting into boost?
Using a catch can to vent crankcase gases?
Any throttle body modification?
Has low rpm torque (sop) improved?

Thanks

I don't have any work on the engine done yet,but I'll change my pistons and the head bolts ,I will go with a stock head gasket,I'll change the flywheel and the clutch .The setup is:
-Volvo v70 turbo (td04-14) I think,i'm not sure if it's14 or 15
