Just wondering who has the highest miles, im only at 231K.
-
102k
-
166K and many more to go! :D
-
Just rolled over 170k, and I intend to keep it running at LEAST until I reach the moon (~234k miles)!
Christoph, want me to add a poll...it might be interesting?
-
78K and still going strong =)
-
my m42 is the lowest-miles e30 I have ever had @ 190K
-
haha my M42 has 240,XXX on the clock, My last E30 had a dead odometer when i got it but it showed 277k
-
Only 153K here
-
135k miles
-
215K -- I've only put 3K on myself and driving the snot out of her! (I've done enough preventative maintenance to ensure enough snot for a couple of years...) :D
-
As of this evening 117,969. I've put on 2,814 since purchase (April 5).
-
Only 150k here........BUT.....I bought the car in summer of 2004 after Hurricane Charley destroyed my other cars. The ODO didn't work when I bought the car (and who knows how long it was out) and I haven't fixed it...My drive to work daily is around 60 miles so add another 15,000 a year for 4 years and I am well over 200k...Probably pushing 250k.
-
almost 275k. :) still runs strong. *knocks on wood*
-
205K miles , still going strong .
-
157k
-
191k here
-
289k
-
140k :)

that would be cool.
im suprised that there are still E30's below 120K!?....my last e30 ('85 318i) had close to 400K on it, i sold it in 2004 after i totaled it (twisted frame), and i still see the kid i sold it to cruising around my hometown from time to time :rolleyes:.
-
Just turned 154k a few hours ago
-

Wow that is really impressive! My goal is to break 500k. I almost have my chassis back to "0 miles".
-
168k
-
253K and my sisters got 180K
-
203.5k. Apparently there's more left in the motor, judging by others in this thread!
-
Just got mine about a month ago 153K
-
207,XxX and going strong. Burns no oil, even on synthetic :)
-
Now with super poll action!
-
300 miles away from 230,000. Burns some oil and compression is down. In the process of looking for a new motor.
-
202k and odo broke! so maybe 215K
-
209k
-
91 318ic - 104k here... When I bought it, it only had 98k on it.
I purchased it from bmwpower (who also rebuilt the engine). The engine was rebuilt (due to previous owner to bmwpower overheating & cracking the head).
-
79k on mine!
-
79k on mine!
:eek::eek::eek:
Wow...I am jealous.
-
159k and still running strong.
-
159k here....doesnt miss a beat!!
-
125k ;)
-
265 000 kilometers.
-
200k+ on mine the speedo hasnt worked in years. Oh and its seen lots of track time.
-
144.5k
-
222,250k on my car now :)
Still running strong...incredibly reliable.
-
106,975 - Just a baby!!:
-
Its funny, my 318i has 153k miles but the other day I found myself ogling a 2001 525i 5 speed with 100k miles for about $9k. I showed it to my friend who has owned his fair share of newer BMWs. He immediately responded with "Are you crazy!?!?! That car has one foot in the grave." I was dumbfounded. Every car I've ever owned was well over 100k miles. My gf drives a volvo 850 with 185k miles and its in much better condition than my E30.
:confused:
-
Some people wont buy a car unless it has a factory warranty. These are what i like to call the mechanically retarded.
I always think to myself when i see someone in a newer car with 8k miles on it "At least my old beater bmw isn't owned by the bank"
-

BWAHAHAHAHAH!!! So true. My buddy actually is still making payments on his 2003 Cooper S. Wonderful car but I would hate bills he has to pay.
I will own an E39 sooner rather than later ;)
-
Yep instead of making a 700 dollar payment to my local bmw dealership, i make a 0-200 dollar part order per month :D
But before the sucker who got the new 3 series pays his off mine will be basically a brand new 1991 3 series for half the price with tons of aftermarket mods and upgrades.
-
i just picked up one thats barely gone 100K (miles....its done 168000km now)....parts car has 240k km, brother's iS has 220k km
-
95,000 got it with 72000
-
Chassis has ~280,000 on it I'm guessing. Odometer was broken when I bought it in Jan with 240000+ on it. New motor supposedly built by BMW (have receipt from PO) has 34000 miles on it now. Sold the original motor though (blown head gasket) and it is being deposited into a 2002... so it's still going to be ticking. He's already torn down and rebuilt it.
-
What if you have more than one? Silver one has around 190,000.
-
What if you have more than one?
Post both but vote for you highest?
-
Looks like the average is right at 200K.
I'm pretty sure mine will see 400
This cat has 10 lives!

-
I'll roll over to 300k in a few weeks. The paint is the only thing that's original.
-
i got 153000 on mine
-
Around 91,000 miles now. It had 68,000 on it when I got it 2 years ago.
-
266,800 miles when I bought her. The PO told me that she "runs like a champ." Then she wouldn't start for our test drive. I bought it anyway, always wanted a bright red car! Best $800 I ever spent.
*EDIT*
I don't drive much during the week since there's a train 1/2 mile from my house...but I do occasionally head out of town on work assignments...so she's up over 271k now. I'm saving a nickel every mile that I don't drive the wife's minivan...adds up to hundreds of dollars a year. So I can spend that money to buy parts I need...makes sense, right?
**EDIT**
As of Sept 2010 she just rolled 275,000. Twenty years old and still running very well. Last business trips were nearly 1000 miles and the car hasn't skipped a beat. The best part is the fat mileage reimbursement checks.
**EDIT**
As of December 2010 we're at 278,491. Most of that was from vacationing in North Carolina...800 mile round trip without incident. Unfortunately I cannot change my vote!
**EDIT*
As of the last day of Sept, 2011...284,744! Heading for that 300k mark slowly but surely...given the current rate of about 650 miles/month we'll see that in Sept 2013. Hopefully she'll still be ticking along just like today.
**EDIT**
Just rolled 293K miles during the Chicago adventure. That's only 9K in over four years! I was hoping to be well over 300K by now, but I take mass transit all the time. That's OK...just added a 318iS to the fleet with a mere 143K miles.
-
bought the car at 94k now im at 96,600 baby Woot!! beat that :D and i only paid 1100 :D
-
M42,178k

How many friends of your childhood you have now as best friends still?

166666 miles...
-
How many friends of your childhood you have now as best friends still?
I have 3 friends I see several times a week that I have known for over 35 years.
I like the beach link. I wish we had a similar approach to things here in the US...
I also now have another e30 with about 270000 miles, but the poll won't let me do two cars...
-
How many friends of your childhood you have now as best friends still?
None...
195K
-
As of this evening the 318 has 341,475 km and still going strong
-
85K, still breaking it in.

226000 plus about 8k from when I had a broken odo haha
-
just turned 150k last week
-

-
265k on the 318i dd. the IS only had 94k on it. 50k were put there by me.
-
Just over 330K miles on our '91 318is. Was hoping to keep driving it for a lot more, but I don't have time to keep working on it, and there are too many things going wrong. May have to consider selling either as a project or, if it doesn't pass smog, a parts car.

196k

91 M 42. Odo broke at 236K at least two years since it broke. about 300, maybe 290.
New chain slide, tensioner, chain , 8 valves, rad, etc. I wish it had a belt, they go forevever. No chain/slide contamination. MM PS I ment to vote at 276-300.
-
284,487 when I got to work this morning. Everything is original. The first owner was a pilot who maintained this car like his planes.
I just autocrossed it last weekend :D
-
to lazy to convert it into miles but this weekend i passed the 217K km.
-
i'm somewhere well over 300k lol. my odometer stopped probably 2 years ago at 255k. i have driven from savannah to tampa at least 10+ times, orlando 20+ times, atlanta 10+ times, d.c. 5+ times, north carolina 2-3 times and a handful of other road trips in the last 2 years hahahah.
-
264k, running MUCH better than when I got her!
-
i bought my car with 185K with the odometer never working while i had it.
-
odometer stopped at 355647.....still running strong..original engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
218k on my m42 and still averaging 32-34 MPG'S!:p
-
118,253.
-
I already saw a parked e30 m40 with 415k!! don't know if its a second engine and if he just left the odo like it was
-
Currently at 245k miles, now with turbo :)
-
251,045 on the odo right now ... planning on keeping it until I can afford to swap the S14 into the car ...
-
235k shooting for a million so lets just say i have few road trips to go
-
Mine's a youngster as it just turned 194k. Once I get back to CA, I'm either going to rebuild this motor or get a spare and build it over time.
-
191k
-
My daily driver 276,411 and 30 MPG
-
my odometer just stopped at 171,000
-
228k on the daily,
and 212,347k on the project soon to be daily.
The current daily is getting swapped with a completely rebuilt m50 drivetrain... fun stuff :D

This thread made my day.
My 310,000 kms is only 192,625 miles! Looks like there's many curves ahead..
I just drove 3,000k over the Rocky Mountains and back, and it purred like a cat the whole way.
Did I mention I love my car?
-
well if i didnt have an e30 my odometer would work and i could tell you exact miles , for now shes forever young at 133000 lmao
-
194k here
-
odo shows 146k but hasn't worked in ?? years.
-
264k, running MUCH better than when I got her!
Mines running better than when I got her...for now about to do the mess under intake.
161,151 on odometer broke the odo on the way home when I bought it I hit the trip reset and e odo went kaput. Guessing I'm at about 171,000 I have a more reliable dd but I just love my E30 and my good MPGs
-
Around 91,000 miles now. It had 68,000 on it when I got it 2 years ago.
To bump an old thread. Just crossed 110,000 on a working odometer. Replaced the gears with RC car gears a week after it stopped turning.
-
To bump an old thread. Just crossed 110,000 on a working odometer. Replaced the gears with RC car gears a week after it stopped turning.
All the gears, or just the small one?
Oh, and I turned over 160K miles as I ascended Afton Mountain heading to Charlottesville last Sunday.
-
1991 318is
94k miles
-
1991 318i
297xxxkm :)
-
1991 318is
250,000 km (seasonal for over 11 years)
-
Turned over 166,000 miles this morning.
-
Figured I'd update this. My little red sedan has 287,323 miles on her broken odo. One of these days I'll get that little gear installed!
~~~EDIT~~~
I fixed the odo gear (finally) on Nov. 16th. Had to swap the speedo twice; the odometer on the replacement was bad and the six-cyl fuel gauge won't work with a single sender M42 fuel tank.
According to my records, I've set the odo at 289,617 miles. Given that my overall average is 29.77 MPG, nearly a year's worth of fuel receipts came out to less than 2300 miles. I installed some new front rotors while I was at it. She's still running great!
-
223k miles and going strong.
-
odo stuck at 239,895 since 2010
runs better than new with the TMS chip in there, much wider power band for one,,,
-
273,876. I redline her daily. Ahhhhh I love my computer chip.
-
187 400 km, 1993 .
E36, M42
-
68,500 Miles / 109,000km on my 1992 318is
243,125 Miles / 389,000km on my 1991 318is
-
Just got over 200K the other week on the daily
-
My '91 sedan has gotten up to 293K since I last checked into this poll. I've had to replace an odo gear in the meantime, ended up piecing together an entire MotoMeter cluster to make it work. I had to clock that odo from 120K up to proper mileage and noted that the gears are a totally different design.
-
My 91 318is recently turned 360,000 miles. This car has been extremely reliable considering I drive it 50 miles plus each weekday. I've done a fair amount of work to keep it running over the years and plan to rebuild the motor next year. I'm shooting for 500k miles!
