Title: Metric Mechanic Forced Induction motor
Post by: P. Kennedy on June 23, 2008, 05:29:19 PM
OK, I was on the phone today with Jim Rowe, THE man at Metric Mechanic.  I asked if they had built any forced induction M42's yet, and he says there's one in CT, he thinks, a guy named Bruce, he thinks.  Is "Bruce" on this list?  If so, can you reveal yourself, because Jim said you were running some serious boost and getting some serious HP, like 300 - 350 from the 1.9L motor.

I'm sure there's a few guys who'd love to ask some questions!

I'm not Bruce and MM did not build my motor, but we're getting those numbers.  There is only so many ways to get there from a components and combinations stand point.  You can find more info here:

Sorry if this is not what you were looking for, but if the question is can a 1.9L M42 make over 300RWHP and torque the answer is yes.  Based on the dyno runs we have at 14 & 18psi I calculated that we were puttind down over 400rwhp when it was overboosting.

Hey P. Kennedy,

Bruce is actually my dad, I just thought the E30 enthusiasts online would like to see this project.

Any specific questions I can help you with or answer?

The car is currently shutting off at 60deg. centigrade, so we sent the Link 2.5bar MAP sensor & G2 Engine Management system out to California to get tested, so we are waiting to hear back.

Thanks for the compliments, and the car made 267whp@13psi on a Mustang dyno.

Next up, Water Injection! :)

Hey Ben:  Thanks for the response.  I bookmarked your r3vlimited thread so I could refer to it and feed my daydreams.  I hope to have the MM boys do a FI motor for me before years' end.  Mine will be more conservative than your dad's however.
