Title: part interchangeability
Post by: Sky1z3 on May 29, 2008, 12:58:08 PM
Sorry for the NEWB question everyone but i cant help it.

Does anyone know what all parts from an M42 will work on the M44?

Namely the oil pan, oil filter housing, and valve cover for now.
But if someone has a list of all the parts that will work with NO modification, please chime in.

Thanks!

It depends on what car you are putting the engine in. IIRC the oil pan from an e30 only works on an e30.
The valve covers have different outlet locations for the breather hose.
Keep in mind that broad questions like yours can only be answered if you know the application, ie: e30 or e36
I think the majority of people on this board have e30s, but there are a lot of e36s also. Keeps confusion to a minimum.
