Title: Throw-out Bearing??
Post by: Birdman16 on May 20, 2008, 03:42:18 PM
I have a 1991 318is with a little over 136,526 miles on the odometer.  I was driving it up and down the driveway to save the battery, (I don't have my license or the car registered) and the gears are grinding between 1st to second and from reverse to first after just a few minutes of running.  I know how to shift very well and I don't stall cars like many starters.  Also, I do not just let the clutch out and let the car start at high or low revs.  That rules out the overheating of the clutch.

My dad and I are trying to figure this before the car goes on the road for me next week.  It may be the throw out bearing in the tranny.  I'm not sure if it is gone, but have a good idea this could be the problem.

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
