Title: Injectors - with \ without Air inlets?
Post by: HaNasich on May 16, 2008, 06:01:10 PM
Hi
just bought a DASC kit, and while ordering it i was asked about weather my injectors has an air-inlet in them.
during the assembly of the M42 into my car i never encountered any air hose running to the injectors.
does anyone knows about M42 / M44 that has injectors with air inlets?

Well from the this link :http://www.motortraders.net/groups/group.asp?group=1&menu=88 (it was just posted in another forum by someone else, but it says that the M42s that were produced after 1/94 they have injectors with an air-inlet in them.  So if your car was produced after 94 then it has an air-inlet, but if it was before that then it doesn't.   Also where did you order your DASC kit from? I thought they had stopped producing them or are there still kits available?  Well hope that link helps.

they had stopped producing the kit.
the thing is that as soon as i heard that they going to stop making it i called in and ordered one from Jim godroe.
it took me some time to have a friend letting me send the kit over to, this is why i will only be getting it now.

BTW - they only stopped making it since the M62 is not available anymore, maybe they will still sell all other components letting the customers take care of getting a good working M62?

And for the air shroud for the injectors - well
according to this picture:

My late 1995 / early 1996 Japanese M42 engine has no air inlets, it has the old type, no air-inlets intake.

I'm rebuilding my engine, getting it ready for boost, and I just took off the intake manifold and it has no extra hoses coming off the ICV like in the picture you posted above.

Hmm well lol okay then I don't know if you don't have them or not.  I guess you could look at the injectors to see if they have an extra part sticking off like in this picture

But if your ICV doesn't have extra hoses coming off it going towards the fuel rail then you most likely don't have air-inlets.

Also thanks on the info about the DASC kit, I was thinking about it but I've decided to go the turbo route, hope to see your build  or atleast some videos of your car on here whens it done.
