So i finnally found a new 318 in my area for sale, as some of you know i totalled my beloved car of 4 years :(, i have been driving a 735i around for a couple of months now but i found another 318is! its a bit shabby, paid $1500 for it, already have my whole interior from my other car in it, just need to work on the engine and suspension now. i will try to get pics up this weekend after i wash it. Its silver insted of D-Schwartz....oh well:rolleyes:. Its lowered, need to put my factory springs in it ASAP, i dont know how you guys with lowered car srtand the ride, it so frikin bumpy....maybe the shocks are blown...and i have 7K in repair orders for the last 50K (new clutch, fuel pump brakes all OEM stuff to) it has 230K so its not to old.
Anyways, im back in the saddle again!

Lowered is fine with good shock. Sounds like you love a project, so I can't wait to see how it comes out!
-
Sounds good mate, glad that your back in an IS :):)
I think silver would be cool, i wish my e36 as silver rather then hellrot.
I saw a silver e30 a few days ago, it was very low and had banded steel wheels with red primer centers, smoothy hub caps and thin whitewall tires. It was very very nice, proper old skool looking.
Low ride height shouldnt cause the bumpiness your suffering, either your shocks are gone are their operating range isnt suited to the lowered springs.
Some cheap koni/bilstein lowered shocks should sort that out :)
Good luck with the new car man, lets keep this one between the ditches:)

Congrats on the new ride bud. As I remember your old car was totaled by a hit and run driver on the i80?
Pics?
-
Nice. I was sorry to hear about your last car, which it sounded like you cared for very well. But glad to hear of this new acquisition and we all need to see some photos.
-
c'mon now - 3 days and no pics of the new 318? :)
Are you transplanting parts from the wrecked 318 onto the new one?
-
Christoph-
Before you post again, can i remind you that your post count is currently 542...
Which looks an awful lot like S42....or is it looked like that on purpose?
-
Ah, I saw that ad on craigslist. Congrats

Looks nice. Keeping the rack? It's go that 4x4 stance so I'm glad I'm not the only one.
So what springs were in it?
I'm interested.
-
Looks brilliant mate :D
It would look brilliant if you kept the roof rack on but filled it with stuff like an old guitar, some stickered luggage and a skateboard. Then slammed it on wide bbs wheels.

Kinda like this ^ but without the rat look paint :)

nice rack! and nice interior too. nice car overall! same model as me! who would have thought lol
hehehe ratz are funny little rusty beasts... but why would you want that?
-
the rack is mine....id did come with one though, so now i have 2! its for my Canoe, and bike in the summer, and my skis in the winter . It was lowered when i got it, i have since put the factory springs from my other car in it and cut 1 coil off the front.....love the stance :). i need to keep it high off the ground as i drive on alot of dirt/gravel roads.....not to mention the snow in the winter :).
You guys will get a kick out of this: when i got it it was lowered, well to lower it someone cut all 4 springs in the middle, and left both halves in the car  so i basically had an 8 spring setup . all corrected now.
ps, i had 700 pounds of "ready mix" cement in the trunk the other day, so i geuss you could call the 318is a qaurter ton :D, other than handling like a 911 porsche it still drove fine (not to mention the ladder and 30 pounds of lumber on the roof ;).
-
wow, 8 springs! Bet you go so much faster that way.
So the pic above is with one coil cut in the front? Still high.

ya, while i cut the front i noticed that you could cut 1.5 coils off if you wanted to instead of 2 because it has a rotating bearing, i think 1 coil gives it a nice height, once i fix my mangled "is" front spoiler it will look better .

nice car
