Title: Replacing Crank Pulley for my M42 engine
Post by: futron.sim on May 12, 2008, 10:14:47 PM
My M42 is an early model that uses V-belt for the alternator and power steering but serpentine for the AC compressor. Due to this configuration, I am unable to install a supercharger (it requires serpentine belt).

I have read that there are certain models of M42 that uses a full serpentine crank pulley (all accessories uses serpentine).

May I know if such a crank pulley does exist and can I just bolt it onto my engine w/o changing anything, esp. the harmonic dampener? Also, where can I find such a pulley?

Thanks!

is this in an e30 or e36?  im guessing a 92-95 318.  you need the pulley from an obd2 car i believe and it should bolt right up.  i just swapped my crank pulley for an obd1 e36 cp to fit my s/c.

Its a 93 e36. Thus the engine its a obd1 M42B18.

Do you mean that I could use the crank pulley from the M44 engine? Cause M44s are obd2 and only post E36s have them.
