Title: double injectors!
Post by: swiss318is on May 02, 2008, 03:59:12 AM
i am seriously thinking about this double injectors thing of the s42 thread. but i am not sure how you can connect that to the ecu?? or standalone, whatever? what would be the main problems? i mean the fuel lines are the smalles problems!

Ghetto way would be building a simple switching unit that constantly measures engine RPM. When engine RPM is lower than x, use injector bank 1 near valves. When larger than x use injector bank 2 near airbox.

Selection of bank would be done by connecting active bank to ground/supply voltage with the unit, depending on what method ECU uses to control the injectors.

Problem with that is that the switching would happen instantaneously, not gradually because ECU might not be happy to drive two sets of injectors at the same time. And reprogramming fuel maps for rpm area where switchover happens might be interesting.

Gain from dual bank injector system is around 5% at best in high revs (I think) so that would mean extra 10 hp on 200 hp engine.
