Haha what kind of response are you expecting here?
Get that stuff cleaned up! Have a machine shop disassemble and glass bead the crap out of it :)
Or if you're capable, disassemble yourself and bring the bare head to them for clean up...and while you're at it, get a 3-angle valve job!
-
Man, that oil is awfully nasty. Can't say that mine has ever became that dark in color. But yeah, are you expecting someone to assess damage of some kind or just give a general idea of condition? I for one have never had the head removed, so I couldn't tell you.
-
My God..The Horror!!!
You would make Charles Manson jealous! The cylinder head looks like Sharon Tates living room.

Brutal Picture removed.

wow, was that really necessary?
Ok, so head looks like a head to me. Bent valves and all.
For starts put a towel over the head, place a large socket that fits the outer diameter of the valve retainer hat and give it a whack with a mallet. The springs will compress, the keepers pop out and the springs will fly off. The towel over it will keep the parts from putting your eye out and flying all over the shop.
You'll need a good valve spring compressor tool to reinstall the next set. I agree that the best thing for you to do is to take it to a shop and have them hot tank it, or at the minimum parts wash it, remove valves and then resurface the head, regrind the new valves and valve seats, lap them and reinstall everything nice and tidy.
You said you worked in or near a shop so maybe some people can help you with the task?
I spent $70 to have the head resurfaced and cleaned with install/reinstall of all valves (but no re-cutting) included.

well, for one, there is already a MISSING valve in the pics below:

I don't think it was "removed" but possibly made an abrupt exit...
-
Yeah the valve you see missing was actually removed by me. I can only seem to get one out. I am taking my head to a local machine shop. $400 for a rebuild. I have some pics of the valve that i picked up from nomad and the one i grabbed from my head. My angine def needs some tlc. I will post the valve pics up soon.
-
what do the pistons & piston holes look like, any damages to the tops or cylinder walls?
-
the pistons look ok i guess. I noticed some small burs on piston #1 where the valve clearences are. I am test the integrity of them tonight(hopefully no cracks). The walls look spectacular. I am doing the oil test tonight to see if there are any leaks. Trying to get it ready for tuesday when i start to put this back togethor. I will post some pics of the pistons when i get home.

I wish it was oil...It's carbon.....Yeah it's ok, a tear shed my eye.You can let it out. Remember i bought the car like this. I ran it for maybe 5,000 miles out of the 275,000 it has. And i only paid $400 for it. So it is not that bad. $400 for a machine shop to rebuild it. Getting the 3 way valve job.

Nice! You'll have a really nice head when you get it back. You said you already replaced all the timing elements right? You'll be set.
Get as much done as you can while it's all broken down. Don't forget to give them the front timing cover for the head so they can machine it at the same time.
You should drop off the intake mani and the valve cover and have them clean those as well. Get all the cosmoline off and make your engine look new again.
Good luck!

$400???
The machine shop that did the work on 6-cylinder head charged me $250 for the 3 angle and partial reassembly (I had him install the valve's and springs).
Where are you located?
Maybe I can set you up with my guy :D

I live in groton CT. Everything in Ct is exspensive. Plus i am trying to get everything done. Valves, springs, and my cams put back on. I am very interested in the 3 angle. But i am not exactlly what i need to accomplish that? Any thoughts?

If you don't know how to do it you wouldn't be able to do it yourself even with the right machine tools.

Well the machine shop i am taking to they know how to do it i think. But I am trying to buy all the parts for the job so i do not pay the overages the dealer that they get the parts from charge.
-
I meant you doing it yourself since it sounded like you wanted to do it yourself.
Anyhow, I think you have everything but valve guides if the stock ones are messed up.
Just price a few other machine shops too just in case.
I'm sure the head will be awesome when you get it back

Yeh, if anything, I would shop around!

I paid over $800 for my rebuild...so shop around.
