Title: Air/Throttle Boot
Post by: link1433 on April 29, 2008, 08:49:02 AM
I had a question regarding the air boot that runs from the MAF to the throttle body.  I replaced this boot and noticed that it has two holes, one on the side and one beneath.  I check the vacuum diagram and noticed only one vacuum line running from it.  So my question is, what is the other hole for, where does it go. Thanks

yes, thats right, there are two holes.. one is unnecessary and dont go anywhere and you close it with a plug! this plug is included in the set if you buy the boot by your bmw dealer.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I've spent at least 12 hours trying to figure out where the !@#$%^& hole got connected to! I bought my new throttle boot from BavAuto and they didn't include the plug.

I assume that the vacuum side of the second 4-way connector isn't used either then? I ran the ICV connection directly to the other hole in the boot rather than through the 4-way. Hope the smog guy passes it.

Did I say thanks?  It's been 2 years since I starrted on the project (I have one of the few M42's with a rod through the block) and I kind of forgot where everything went.
