Can some one tell me if the rear spoiler on my e30 318is was body color from the factory? Mine is semi-gloss black on a D Black car. I am repainting the car and would like to put it back to a factory look. Thanks.

I believe all OEM spoilers were body color from the factory. If you have no cracks in yours, then it has probably been re-painted. Lucky you, as all the prep work has been done for you. All you need to do is scuff it and paint it.

I was considering painting my oem red spoiler black since its fading bad. But now I think I'll repaint body color as well. Looks like it belongs, instead of something added later.

definetly gloss black on any non black car. mine

The gloss black on silver looks great but... Is it factory stock?

Poooobaa: So no, gloss black on a silver car would not be factory stock. I too believe that the iS rear spoilers on 318iS models came in factory colour so it would have been initially silver on this car.
Cheers.

Ya all of the 318is's came with spoilers, and they were all painted body color. If you don't have a dark colored car I like the black spoiler better that body color. But thats just my opinion!

i also have a silver is, and a faded silver spoiler, can any one tell me the best products to prep for respray, do you need a special paint to prevent cracking?
thanks.
