On the E30's, those that have the side marker light assemblies (amber in front bumper and red in rear bumper) - how does one change the small bulbs in those assemblies? These are the small rectangular light assemblies on the L & R side of the vehicle.
Does the assembly have to be pried from the bumper from the exterior and if so, how do you do it w/o breaking the part(s)?
What size bulb is needed for those?
The (2) on the passenger side of my 318ic are blown out, while the (2) on the driver's side are working fine.

i was just fooling around with those on my car last night.
what you need to do is, try to push the whole lens casing towards the front of the car and get a screwdriver behind it. there will be a little metal prong holding the housing in place.
hope that helps.
as far as the bulb type, i couldnt exactly tell you which one it is called.

^^ what he said, but you should just go euro and get rid of those. makes a nice clean look.

So, if I am understanding you correctly, I want to move the assmebly forward (towards the front of the car) and once I do that, use screw driver to lift it out? What do I do with the metal prong you mentioned, do I have to push that in, push it forward or pry from behind it?
thanks!

don't bother with a screw driver, just make sure your palms are sweaty and pry it out from the side with metal. that metal portion is a clip that flexs.

Yeah if you goto R3V's GB forum, there is an offer by Tischer BMW to buy the Euro trims. Looks a lot cleaner imo
