so yesterday my car started running like crap, and now it is blowing blue smoke out the tailpipe, which leads me to believe bad rings. so i did a compression test today, and it didnt look too good, but it didnt look horrible either.
when i first bought the car, it had 210psi across all cylinders, today it was as follows:
cyl 1: 175psi
cyl 2: 200psi
cyl 3: 175psi
cyl 4: 200psi
so is this bad, or could it be something else. i dont have the tools to do a leakdown test, but if i have to i can run and get them from harbor freight.
thanks in advance.

For whatever reason either valves or rings are leaking. Squirt some oil in there and check it again to eliminate ring leak.
175psi isn't terrible, but you have a high percentage difference from the adjacent cylinder,ie more than 5%.
You're going to have to fix something, you just need to find out what.

i took the head off, and found pieces of bearing on the TOP of the cylinder:eek:. so needless to say i need a new engine.

pieces of bearing? WTF?
What do you think it's from?

thats exactly what i thought. WTF? the only thing i could think of is maybe the piston skirt broke and let it by on the downstroke. after i get a new engine i will take this one apart and check it out.
