Title: Blue wave mufflers? e92 320si sound, WTF?

Part of what I hear when the car is approaching sounds like a carbon fiber intake  manifold.  In any even, the car sounds great.

yep, thats a 4 cylinder...sounds great.  my dad's 2005 mitsubishi lancer ralliart sounds similar when the pedal is to the floor (also a 4 cylinder).  the only modification to the car was that we replaced the stock air intake with a cold air intake system from AEM.  whatever mods were done to that 320 created a nice sound.  the video description and comments lead me to believe only the exhaust was modified, other than that, who knows?

but the mitsu is turbo:D
 
in the video he wrote only mod is exhaust, but IMHO sure it has a CAI:)

we wish...mitsubishi lancer ralliart...note the RALLIART in place of the turbo EVOLUTION :), the ralliart version isn't turbo-d, if it was, well that would pretty much make it an evo with some different bodywork, hehehe, in time....in time

That is pretty normal 4 banger sound without intake sound muffler :)

Atleast in E36 air filter box is often called intake muffler in BMW ETK.

Also, your cams affect the noise. Friend's Honda CRX racecar went from stock cams to more aggressive cams and without any other changes the intake noise changed very noticeably!
