I've got a nice bit of leaking coming from the PS res, down the hoses and onto the ground.
I'm looking for a cheap way to fix this. There's a used res for sale and hopefully this will fix it till I get some new hoses to go with it.
Same part?

Yep, same part if it's an E30 M3.

what's a good price used?
Do they usually leak from the hoses or from the res itself from a crack? I know I'll need new hoses eventually.

i will have one for sale in the first week of may. i would also be interested in a trade.
my hoses are cracked and i decided to do a P/S delete. i think the reservoir is in good condition. i will inspect it and would sell it for cheap anyways. i also have the pump (unknown condition)
(i will do the delete as soon as i finish university, the car is 200km away and i have so much finals and assignments due for now)

i saw pictures of a porsche 944 engine bay and it looks like they use the same as well. might be a standard part

I think shipping from Canada would kill the deal unfortunately.
I was looking at a PS delete a long time ago. How does it feel from those who've done it and is it best to still get a quicker ratio rack?

yep, it should work. i used a replacement reservoir from when i had my e36 m3 as well. it fixed that nasty squeal i had coming from there at low speed turns.

Being in cali you should have a pick-n-pull within driving distance of you. As far as a P/S delete, I have driven my car around without power steering last year for about a month, and it was fine when you were moving but when you were sitting still or moving slow, it took two hands to steer. Just go out to your car and take off your P/S belt and see how it feels.

The reservoir is built in 2 pieces, and they leak pretty easily between the halves if they are bolted down too tightly. The e30 and the e36 use the same part, as do most of the older BMWs if I remember right.
As for the PS delete/rack swap, I have an e36 rack (3.2 turns) with no PS but all of the equipment is still there, just no belt. It will soon all be removed, as I was testing to see how I would like it. The effort really isn't bad unless you are parking, where it sucks. I wonder how hard it would be to rig up a system that uses the electronic clutch on the AC compressor for a selectable PS for those rare times when you need to park...
