i have some minor cracks in my dashboard, and i was wondering what you guys fill them with? thanks

There is a product available by I believe a company called Permatex.  If you go to your local Pep Boys, Auto Zone, NAPA or Advance Auto, you should be able to find the product.  It is used for repairing vinyl upholstery tears and dash board repairs.  The product comes w/ instructions, a small heating iron, multiple color dye containers to match your existing vinyl/dash and the product to fill in the cracks in vinyl upholstery or dashes.  I forget the cost, but I'm guessing it's under $20.00.

If you get it and try it out, post up your progress & results!

thanks, i'll have to take a look at that. i have a lot of stuff on my car plate, so i'll try to get at that hop3efully this weekend

that sounds very interesting ... because i have some minor holes on one side of the radio... i have to look if sth like that is available in switzerland

Permatex is a VERY good company. They are the same guys that make Loctite, and other such glues, and anti-seeze, or thread locking fluids.

I used to work for place that stocked almost everything they had. They make a very fine product indeed.

I actually picked up a repair kit for fixing the vinyl on my trucks rear seat. I have yet to use it, but I have seen it used on other peoples seats, and as long as you follow instructions, and do a good job of it, the end product isn't bad.

Granted whenever I've seen the finished product the person who did it, did a crappy job. But it'll hold up for a looooonnnng time.

If anyone has issue #21 (Aug 2001) of Bimmer Magazine, there was an article covering dash repair. Don't expect perfect results, but it's certainly cheaper and easier than replacing the entire dash.

If someone does have this, maybe scan it in and post it in this thread as it could be helpful info.  Do you remember what product they used or the process they did to fix any dash cracks?
