Title: 4.10 lsd medium case into 318is question
Post by: mikedz on March 31, 2008, 04:45:55 PM
ok so i aquired a medium case 4.10 lsd and i assumed it would bolt right up well i guess i was mistaken.  I have posted on bimmer forums but didn't get much help just more questions.  I tryed to bolt the diff up and everything lines up except the drive shaft seems to be to long about 10mm.  I have a 325e driveshaft laying around. I know the car had a medium case in it before it was killed so would the 325 drive shaft work? i was also told the driveshafts are ajustable but when i looked at it ajusting it would through the u joints all outta alignment.  Any help would be greatlly apreciated auto cross season is in two weeks and i'm tired of pegleggin it around haha.

I recently did the same swap without any adjusting of the driveshaft needed.  From what I have read there is a collar on the driveshaft that needs loosened to shorten it. Do a search here because someone just had the same problem as you.  Good luck.
Dan.

It should bolt right in.  Is the slip joint fully compressed and it's still 10mm too long?
