Title: Ford injector caps
Post by: Jak318 on March 30, 2008, 07:28:31 PM
I finally got around to tearing my intake down and trying to install my ford 19lb injectors. The problem is that the caps from the old injectors are cracked and one is totally trashed as they were VERY brittle when I pulled them.

My question is since I'm upgrading to the Ford four pintle style, do I still need these caps and if so where should I get them? A Ford dealer since they are ford injectors or a BMW dealer since its a BMW manifold?

I have searched already and haven't found anything useful.

As far as I know, they should pop right in.  Do the Ford injectors not have caps on them at all?  The caps help out with atomizing the fuel mostly, and I would not recommend running without them.

Swapping the caps is nearly impossible with the old M42 injectors.  The plastic is so hard and brittle, it just won't work.  The caps on the Ford ones will fit, I am pretty sure.  The 1-pintle M42 caps won't fit on the Ford 4-pintle ones anyway.

I think he is talking about the plastic ring on th bottom of 4 hole ford injectors which I haven't been able to find anywhere. I think you still need the plastic ring in order to hold the rubber O ring in place.
