If you can't do this, then either you don't own an E30 or you are rich and have no business in this forum. :)

Site is down. But after how much km's / miles / months does the oil need to be changed?
Is the service interval indicatur enough to rely on before I change the oil, or should I do it after 5000km's / 3106 Miles?

Some people are anal and change it as soon as it gets dirty:confused:
It depends on your driving habits and what type oil you use.
I use synthetic and change it with the filter every 4000 miles.
Regular oil should be no more than 3000 miles. As for the indicator lights, I pay no attention to them as I keep a log in my Bentley Manual.

You are actually hurting your engine and wallet doing this.
Tests have shown synthetic should go at least 6 and can go a lot longer. You get the most wear in the first 3000 miles after an oil change. Ford and Volvo (?) have both confirmed that 3000 miles or so is a bad idea.

Pretty surprising results.
I go 5000-6000 on regular, and 8000 on synth.
3000 miles s something concocted years ago by oil companies and engine manufacturers, filters and engines have come a long way since then.

I'm still going to change my oil every 4000 because I'm stubborn.

interesting i have never thought of it this way, both sides of the argument has enabled me to look more into this. I remember, my friend was taking a shop class and asked me to come in one day. They were playing this video sponsored by valvoline. The video was saying things like "Its never too early to change your oil. The faster your change it the better it is for the engine, valvoline cares." I guess its all marketing.. no better to spread it with the use of our future mechanics.
