I'm 3-4 hrs away but could possibly do a meet.  This would be cool because there are VERY few e30s around here.
BTW my car is together and still running. :D
Hopefully it stays that way.

Mine has a fist-sized hole in the block.  The fire was pretty nice that went along with it as well.  I almost caused a pileup on the highway.

this blows we need more RUNNING m42ers in maryland everytime i go to any car meet if there even is an e30 there, it is a 325i! plus all my friends have 350zed's so that is no fun for me. has anyone in here ever installed the powerflex control arm bushies along with the control arm what a pain i ended up having to cut the bolt for the right control arm that is all up under the header it was so rusted it spun the stud. i tried everything torches, impact drivers, pb blast ended up hacking the old one off. next upgrade is some steel brake lines any suggestions on a good company for those.

Well, I am about to paypal Fred K for a used block/pistons/rods this weekend.  I am going to pick up a painted and beautiful looking manifold/fuel rail from White325is (didnt get his name yet lol) this weekend.  I am hopefully going to start pulling the motor next weekend once I drag the car in the garage and start the rebuild.  When I start taking everything apart, I will create a build thread fully updated with A LOT of pictures and DIY articles.

More to come.

I forgot about this. We need to set up a meet here sometime. My car is finally on the road again after rollbar, seats and harness has been installed. I can't drive too far though. Exhaust is deafening! Then I'll trailer it :)

Maybe somewhere in Rock Creek Park? It's a sweet drive too!

We are running straight pipe with a Magnaflow race muffler. Pretty loud! With no interior it's not worth driving on the street. It's a track car so then it's not a big deal. It would sound better with a cat I think. Not so "raspy" sound, and pass inspection (but we got diplo tags :) )

My wife is leaving for her parents this friday, so I'd be up for a meet and maybe a bite on friday evening? I will still do the dyno run on Saturday as posted above, but will probably bring my newly acquired E36 325iS for that.

i'm down there is a big turn out at meets in moco where i'm at the street racing scene is kinda big too. on any given night you can usually find some people showing there cars. there are a couple of fast ass cars down here like 500 hp plus 350zeds and 450 hp evos and sti's. you get the occasional e30 but its almost always a 325i there are a few m3 evo swaps in some e30's but they only come out on super nice nights.

Sign up for the upcoming NASA Mid Atlantic HPDE school (I'll be there). There's also lots of other groups running HPDEs for beginners and up. I'll lso be running with the BMWCCA New Jersey Chapter April 2-3., but they don't run beginners this time.

damn i just looked that up it seems like this is a lot of time and money and that is just stuff i don't have. its a shame that they can't just have a open day where you can pay money and go do time attacks or something. but then i guess you would have a lot of people that don't know how to take a turn or even drive a car for that matter out there messing them selves up into walls.

Its dangerous enough as it is with instructions and classes etc. There's a wreck almost every event.

Though it takes time and money, it's all worth it. If you think you know how to drive without doing any of these HPDE events, think again, because you don't. The first thing people learn is usually that they know so very little and it takes seat time to learn as well as instruction. And that's just to keep the car on the track at speed and under control. No racing lines or anything like that. Not even timed laps (which is illegal).

If you ever get the chance you should do it. It will be worth your effort, and you'll see cars and your BMW in a totally new light. If you want company, let me know and I'll go with you. Or you can come down and check it out when I'm there. NASA has what they call Hyperdrive where you get one class session and one driving session for $50. You can't beat that for a taste of how it's like.

what do they teach you geometric lines and ideal lines and how to brake coming up to the apex of your line then roll out? how to pass when its safe to pass how to pace a car in front of you. how to push the car in front of you? how to react to certain situations? and i'm certain that safety is the number one thing they stress the most.  or is it more basic than all of that.  like signaling for someone to pass you and track manners at first.

You dont learn anything in relation to other cars on the track except to give a pass signal to faster cars and where to pass slower cars when signaled to. You learn how to drive the ideal line around the track. That's a handful in itself before you start getting around 20 hours of seattime. Then you get to pass at more spots and drive solo if you get it. But it's about your driving skills, the track and your car. To go further you need to get your competition license and then go wheel 2 wheel racing.

Come down to Summit Point for the NASA event on April 25-26 and try the Hyperdrive. I'll be there to run the HPDE 2 group. And you might be able to get a ride with an instructor too, which is a blast :)

I'll see those of you that shows up at the AutoX tomorrow. It might rain, but still fun. The Washington Circuit seems to be great for AutoX. Bring a helmet if you got one (or you can borrow one from NCC too) and you might be able to catch a ride at the end when we do fun runs. I'm not sure if I'll stay to the bitter end since I'm running in the morning.

Yeah, that 2002 is sweet. A BMW instructor named Fred. Willwood brakes on that thing

Had fun! it was slippery and wet, but put down a good time. I won my class (total of 3) and came in number 13 out of about 150 cars total. The little 318 showed some skills :D

i would be too embarressed of my cars to go to a show lol. IS has got fire damage on the hood and pass fender, the DD 318i 4door has a terriable exhaust rattle, worn seats and scratches and the m3 has been apart for the last 5 years because it was rearended.

i might go to the college park show if i get the exhaust redone in time.
