Title: oil light?
Post by: beegeezy on March 14, 2008, 12:45:52 AM
Hey all, been driving my swap for a few days now, and as of today, the oil light has been flickering on and off. What could be causing this? Im not sure what to check first, the oil level is good, the engine is running fine. Granted the guage cluster isnt working perfectly, the gas guage is off, and the temp isnt working quite right, so im not sure if the oil light is just messing up or not.

could be a faulty/clogged oil pressure switch fortunately that was my problem. but it could also be low oil pressure meaning u need a new oil pump/gear

hmm, so it could be easy, or hard. hahah, expected. Ill check the pressure switch tomorrow, hopefully it will be that. Havent had any ticking of any sort from the lifters, so Im hoping its not the pump, but time will tell. Damn, I just got it going, I dont want to have to take it apart again!

take out the switch, clean the plug connection and the one on the wire. spray out the sensor with some brake clean, let it sit until the brake clean has evaporated, pull off the oil filter cover, get a syringe and suck all the oil out of the hole above the sensor. make sure there isn't any sludge in there. (mine didn't have any, i just replaced the sensor with one i had sitting in the garage).
