Title: 1995 M42 question
Post by: Artem on February 26, 2008, 07:54:24 PM
Hey, I busted an oil pan on my motor (i think) - it drove fine for like 150 miles and then the oil light came on. I shut it off, but the motor is kinda tired, and in any case - I wanted a low mileage motor anyway. I found one from a 1995 318i with 79k miles on it.

My motor has 170k estimated (ive been swapping the dash clusters for a bit).

The question I have - since I have a 95 motor, can I just drop it in the car? Or will I have to do some serious mods to it?

I know I will have to redo the oil pan, and I have a spare complete one for that. I might need to do the valvecover if the one that comes with the 95 motor is different. Can I use the accessories with it? What about the AC compressor? Can I somehow replace the AC compressor pulley/clutch alone?

M50 swap is too much $$$, plus I want to keep the car stock and its easier that way...

Thank you all, Artem
