ive removed the 6 bolt crank pulley, now im seeing a 22mm nut in the middle of the balancer...how do i remove that? i dont want to pry inbetween teeth on the balancer for leverage to hold it still...but all im doing is spinning the crank. do i just need a 22mm socket and use air on it instead of a wrench?

Do not pry on the crank balancer wheel. The 22mm nut is actually a bolt. It is super tight at 230lb-ft. I used the following method because I had the timing tools.
Rotate the crankshaft using a ratchet and 22mm socket and bring it to TDC at cyl 1. Place the flywheel pin if you have it in the flywheel hole and that will lock the crank. Then make sure the crank cannot move by turning the crank back and forth slightly to confirm the pin is in. Then once the crank cannot move use your 22mm socket, a breaker bar, and large metal pipe to slip over the breaker bar. It will take a lot of effort to loosen the bolt but you'll get it. Once the bolt is out, the toothed balancer will simply slide off. There should also be a crank hub behind it which slides onto the crank key.
Or
If you don't have a flywheel pin, You can use a rattle gun however you need a very good air supply - an air compressor of 3-4hp won't cut it.
Or
There is another tool you can use from Pelican Parts, its a counter holder for the crank You use the 6x 10mm bolts from the crank pulley and the tool bolts up to the crank hub. Then one person will hold the counter tool clockwise, while you loosen the 22mm bolt in anti-clockwise.

where do i get a flywheel pin?

You can use a bolt or piece of steel rod the correct size. Somewhere here there is a drawing of the BMW tool. The part that goes in the flywheel is smaller than the part in the block. I have a bolt that I cut down on a lathe that is the same size as the BMW tool. I'll ship it to you for $10.

if i need it yeah ill have you do that. ill let you know

Definately get a cam holding tool and flywheel pin for after you loosen the bolt with a 22mm impac socket, breaker bar and a 6" piece of 2 X 4 wood.
