Title: How Much should this cost??
Post by: AlpineRob on February 19, 2008, 09:52:48 AM
My 1991 runs great..but since i've been hearing so much about bad timing chains and tensioners...id like to have mine serviced before something big happens..How much should this service job cost realistically? Id like the chain and tensioner replaced.. How Much? Thanks

You should pull your valve cover and inspect the condition of your chain first. If the chain is fine, replacing the tensioner only is a 10 minute job.

If you have the chain and sprockets changed at a shop, thats probably going to cost you more than the car.
