Can you ya'll pipe up with your HP and your model?
Maybe a quick description on how?
Just want to know whats out there... I dont care if you have an E36 or an E30, Im just really curious. I might take mine to the dyno in Marrietta GA, and get a HP reading at the RW...
Cheers and Beers

I just dynoed mine, 153 Hp and 190Nm
Mods: throttlebody heater removed, G-power cat-back, chip (cheap ebay chip, X-treme or something).
The dyno which was used, is accurate. Its used by rally and track cars.
I discussed with the dyn owner and his opinion was that those aftermarket CAI's are waste of time and money. They dynoed 6 (inc. KN, pipercross etc.) and the result was that original paper filter was best. The oil inthe filters will destroy the airmass meter.
-
Jolly good show frankie!
Did you dyno different chips? I think you had about 143 hp last summer with different chip?
-
Actually it was 144 with stock chip ;)
First dyno result was 149 hp with "Benzino" chip (available you-know-where). I think that increase resulted from the cooler intake air due to the heater plate removal. Then I installed the X-treme -chip(?) and result was 153hp.
I actually felt the difference after I installed that chip and that was due to the increased torque within 1500-3400 rpm range.
-
Ok, I will try that TB heater plate bypass too tomorrow since my car seems to be destined warm weather track car and I do not have to worry about TB freezing :)
-
296 hp and 372 Nm at the wheels. About 330 hp and 420 Nm at the flywheel depending on estimated drivetrain losses. 1 bar of boost (14.5 psi). Turbo M42, 318is E30.

well my intake is just like a 6cyl one i removed one of my horns and i dont put the oil on the cone i was thinkin bout wrappin the CAI pipin or usin a heat shield
but wats that TB mod? u got a DIY?

319 RWHP on a Dyno Dynamics.
-
Yay! Took the car to dyno first time ever, for me and for car :)
Peak power: 155.6 hp / 6200 rpm
Peak torque: 200 Nm / 4300 rpm
Dyno chart here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25412802@N07/2479989515/
Only mods are TB heater bypass and ebay chip. Rev limit seems to be 7300 instead of 7500 but that's ok, power is already going down.
I'm happy. Next phase will be regrind cams and chip for them, hopefully in one months time :)

94 E36 318is
Dyno-
whp-162.3
-
Dynolicious says 118whp yet my 1/4 time say 16.31sec @ 88.1 mph on 87 octane.
Many modification, most of them to make the car slower apparently.
-
Turbo e36 m42 187whp@8psi with RRFPR & no spark tune
-
some times i realy dont trust dynos, my buddy has a 400whp integra and he dynod it once and it was 130 whp?
-
well no dyno sheets butttt....
aem dryflow cai-custom built of course..(idc what anyone says, it helped with power!)
no cat, 2.25 piping all the way back to a dynomax super turbo muffler
volvo 850 spark plug wires
need a mark d!!!
she'll tear the tires loose 1st, 2nd, and on occasion i can snatch some 3rd.
-
still no MarkD chip dyno results? :(
-
146 at the wheels:
L+B standard 1.8 bottom end with bigger valve cutouts) + some mild headwork + some 278 catcams (still on hydraulic lifters)+ a 3mm oversize T.Body + custom remap (AFM retained).
-
117 whp bone stock i think. besides cone filter. 1993 318is M42.....do you think i have a chip getting that result. i am not sure if it had one when i got it or now.
-
It's not to hard to check if you have a chip, It's just 5 minutes... Just took out the ecu out twice today. PM me or search if you need help. Oh and with 117 it's possible.
-
while im a the hp thread...
a very knowledgable e30'er told me that m42 euro headers were diffrent? he said that they give you more hp than the US ones...idk about all that...have any of you guys heard that as a hp gain option?
sry for the slight thread jack ;)
-
According to Dynolicious:
22# injectors
CAI
No PS
No clutch fan
= 118 wheel HP
Add "proformance" fleabay chip
= 135 wheel HP
My goal for the before and after runs was to determine if the ebay chip did any good. I kept the variables to a minimum and tried to keep my driving as consistent as possible. Obviously dynolicious numbers should always be taken with a grain of salt. I'm more interested in the difference rather than the absolute peak number.
Conclusions: Ebay chip WORKS as advertised!
-
please help me understand how or if you get more effect by remove the heater plate from the throttlebody...
-
you guys really need to clarify what dyno these numbers are coming from. we have a mustang dyno, which is revewed as the most accurate/consistent . I have never seen a stock m42 make more than 110 rwhp. do the math.
138 at the crank minus ~16-17% power loss to the wheels = ~115 rwhp. and seeing as how all the ones i've tested have been origional engines, 110 at the wheels is the most i've seen. i've tested several with diffferent mods, tb delete, intake, chips, exhaust, etc. an extra 10hp-15 at the wheels is about it..
everyone knows dynojet and many others are typically 15% inflated so for many of you, those numbers are still way too high.
post your dyno graphs so we can make sense of all this..
-
i correct mine. i just saw the sheet it was 111 rwhp not 117 so maybe i do not have a chip. and i think it was a dynojet not sure. i know it was not a mustang.

I thought I was the only one... I was like damn my fresh rebuilt motor is a dawg (23000 miles). Original dyno stock with just some Delta regrinds was 114rwhp and 108ft/lbs.
My last dyno with the mods listed below (I believe this is a mustang dyno) was 135.34 @ 6100 and 122.5ft/lbs. Runs were at 73 degrees with 15% humidity. I thought this was pretty damn good, but not compared to some of the numbers here.
Mods: Delta Regrind Cams, Ebay ProFormance Chip, TB Heater Delete, 4 pintle Mustang Injectors, Parasitic Fan Delete replaced with Efan.

ya, that sounds right on. pretty damb good for sure. a relativily stock m20 is running reat if it puts down 130rwhp
did you get an air-fuel reading on that dyno run? either you mixture is off on the top end or your cams need to be degreed. it should make peak power higher than 6100 rpms with cams and a proper tune. i would bet you make another 8-10 completely dialed in.
