Title: Silverblades181
Post by: silverblades181 on May 01, 2006, 05:19:13 PM
Hello, my name is Philippe and I own a diamantschwartz E30 318is. Car was made in 04 1990. I've owned it for a year and I just managed to finish paying for it so now the modding begins. I'm currently studying to be a mecanic. My love for bimmers started when I first bought an E30 320i (not 320is) imported from germany and had no idea wtf I had lol. So now about my M42...it has brand new gaskets thanks to the profile gasket leaking :( All the money I've invested in it till now has been maintenance because whenever I want to buy a mod...something else breaks. But that is about to change. Btw, I'm a member of the BMW club of Quebec which is affiliated to BMW club of Canada which is affiliated to BMW CCA..so I'm kinda part of BMW CCA lol

Mods:
Interior:
M-Tech 2 steering wheel
M-Tech shift knob (dunno if you could call it that..)
Infinity rear speakers

Engine:
K&N square filter FTW!!

Suspension:
Bilstein sport shocks and H&R Sport springs

Futur mods (plans):
4.10 LSD (priority)
MarkD chip (priority)
Supersprint exhaust
Euro Smileys
IS Lip
Genuine Alpina wheels...if I can find some and afford them lol
Lots and lots of track time

I don't have any recent pics of my car, these 2 were taken by the last owner when he sold me the car last June.

Hey mate, congrats and welcome.

Question about the air filter: your setup is pretty much stuck minus the air filter... did you notice a difference when you put it in?

wow, gorgeous body, that car has like no dings what so ever, I'm so jealous of that.

Welcome Philippe.

Is that another unique interior I'm seeing. If so, I envy you Canadians!

It's a tan cloth interior with a squared pattern, I don't know if it's unique to Canada though. I'm actually hoping to get a black leather interior eventually.
I'll try to get updated pics soon (once the suspension is on)

I did actually. I found it more responsive but the gain is not very significant. I mainly bought it because the stock replacement was 35$ at Canadian Tire. The K&N was 70$ and doesn't need replacing, only cleaning.

It doesn't show in the pics but the body is not that perfect. I suspect it has been bumped in the front since the bumper is a bit twisted, so is the valence under it (not much..but visible) Plus, I live in rust heaven...so yeah...theres rust lol the frame is solid and theres no rust on the floor though.

Here's a pic of the car on the track with the new suspension. I loved it! I know....I need a full face helmet lol. Bought this Snell 2005 for 150$ shipped...can't complain. Btw, that yellow E36 M3 in the back is one of the 47 1994 M3s sold in North America with the European S50. He flew right by me in the strech but I kept close in the turns :D It sounded amazing though...

It's called Mecaglisse. It's not very big and it's full of turns, perfect for the M42 ;)
