Title: E36 M42 into E30
Post by: colin86325 on February 06, 2008, 09:42:56 AM
I'm getting an E36 engine to drop into my E30.
Is it worth it to grab the ECU so I'll have knock sensor control?

Or do you recommend converting the E36 motor to use the E30 ECU?

Thanks,
Colin

First of all, the e30 ecu won't work on the e36 engine without the e30 harness.
Knock sensors are good for you. ;)

I would use the e36 harness and ECU, one thing you might run into as a problem is the e36 coils are all pugged in with one connector as the e30 coils are plugged in individually.  Not that big of an issue but something of which you should be aware.
