Title: Help!!!
Post by: silent lucidity on January 30, 2008, 01:00:19 PM
Wutsup guys,

Last night when I got home I was pulling into my driveway backwards with my wheels fully clocked to the left. Out of no where I couldn't move my steering wheel locked up and I couldn't straighten out. I had to go back down the drive way and force it straight until something made a popping noise. I drove down the street and made a you turn and bam same thing again. It was too late and dark to check anything so this morning I took a look and theres no leaks, no parts missing, etc. BUT when I started the car this morning..the cars revs shot up to 5000 RPMS!!! WTF?!?!  I unplugged the ICV but it didn't even phase it. I know for a fact I have a bad ICV, could it have completely given out? Could the steering problem be because I don't have the powere steering belt and it could have put too much stress on the steering column or something? I need some techy advice. I am going to purchase a ICV today to see if that helps. And also jack the car to see if anything snapped or something. If anyone has had similar problems any info would be sweet.

CHEERS,
GJ

the steering problem sounds like your steering wheel lock engaged (you know when you take the key out and try to turn it?)

your throttle cable might also be stuck.

Thanks Kowalski,
the throttle cable was stuck and i also replaced the icv as well, now the car idles at normal, but when I come to a stop it dips to about 500.  Possible vacuum leak? i'm not sure, but I still have to get this thing on a lift soon to see what the steering problem is.

The steering - You'd better fix this thing soon... But I think that You will have to change for the new rack. It is much better to change the rack for the new one than get crashed because You couldn't turn left or right.

500RPM's? Leak or bad air engine /this small in the back of the engine/.
