Title: m42 into an 85 318i
Post by: thejimlab on April 28, 2006, 04:43:16 PM
Hey guys. I'm trying to join the club! I have an 85 318i. I just bought a 1990 318is parts car with a good motor and tranny. Has anyone done this swap before? If so, what do I need to know. Thanks!
Jim

HAHA.

as far as i know, with all the right bits and pieces and loom, it should be a fairly straight forward swap.

Good luck, and keep us updated man. Maybe document the swap if you feel like being bothered.

if you have a parts car it will be easy.  Swap EVERYTHING :D

Engine, tranny, driveshaft, wiring harness, etc...

driveshaft doesn't need swapping, loom will be a bitch, everything else is dead easy.
