Title: M42 with a automaitc gearbox... anyone?
Post by: bar73k on January 05, 2008, 05:35:03 AM
Im thinking that maybe putting an automatic gearbox in my car, will be fun
for a little while, and will also help at the drags

has anyone put an auto in a e30 318is?

will an auto fit into the transmission tunnel???

it's a very hard item to find; I looked for a little while (don't ask)

anyway, the 1992 318ic also came with (I've read) a 4.27 rear end; I don't know if the transmission needs an oil cooler or if the driveshaft is also the same length.

For some reason, it seemed like the manual -> auto swap is harder than the auto-manual swap...

Probably only because very few people have ever gone the reverse route. ;)
