Title: E21 Motor Mounts
Post by: thumper3ld on April 26, 2006, 08:23:20 PM: These things rock. Much stiffer then original, and didnt have to cut any tabs to fit them. Mechanic did say that they were a bitch to line up with the motor though. These things make the car feel more crisp and the throttle feels tighter.
I also had a ton of other work done to it such as upper and lower oil pan gaskets, cracked subfram was replaced with a used one that was also rewelded to reinforce it. and valve cover gasket was changed. These things could have attributed to the crisp feel but I doubt it. I think these mounts are the main reason for the crisp feel and tight throttle.

The part number is 11 81 1 175 735, not sure what model they are from though. ordered them from bma and they were pretty damn cheap. Sorry, have no comments on the install since I didnt do it myself. I would've but had a shitload that needed to be done and didnt wanna lie under the care with nothing but a jack supporting the motor. Anyway, all my mechanic said about them was that they were a bitch to line up.

Thats the part number I used at bma and thats the part number that kowalski gave me on another thread. I'll try and locate the thread and link it later. Either way,he got'em on and they work.

Post by: dude8383 on May 03, 2006, 03:47:27 PM: i believe the proper E28 mount is 85-88. the mount must be green to fit properly...the thread needs to trimmed a little bit so that it can clear. i had a mechanic install mine and i forgot to mention that they needed to trimmed, so it was somewhat of a pain to install, still do-able though.

*EDIT*

they must be E28 535i mounts!!

Do the E21 mounts increase cabin noise/vibration?

However, the mounts when i recieved them, did not look like the ones pictured.
They however did look like the e28 but black and no tabs to cut. I can not tell u whether or not they raised the engine. I however do not notice any more cabin vibration or noise.
