Title: m42 exhuast header options
Post by: jakeb on November 30, 2007, 12:36:45 PM
I am wondering what is out there for exhuast headers/maifolds?  I know the stock header is already really good but I am planning a m42 into a 2002 swap and assuming that I am going to have some issues with the exhuast header hitting the steering arm.

I thought about making something myself but would rather look first or start somewhere.  It need to be fairly short...kind of like how a cast iron manifold works.

The rest of my exhuast is 2.25" through two magnaflow stright through mufflers.

any ideas?

Jake

The cheapest you will find are on ebay for about 60 bucks. They are basically copies of the stockers, but I wouldn't feel so bad about trying to mod them. Chances are you will need something custom, but there is a guy on here or bf.c. somewhere who has done this before, might want to try to search it.

yes i was looking at those cheapo ones on ebay and I think if I cut the 4 pipes and added a collector from stahl up close to the engine and then a single pipe from that it would work.

Once I get the engine in the car I will have to do some measuring and maybe buy one of those cheap ebay ones.
