Title: Tokico shocks/struts... Is it worth it?
Post by: Majikal on November 22, 2007, 08:47:48 PM
The 18 year old suspension in the car is starting to really get to me... lol. Im looking for something that will be better than the stock MUSHY suspension, but I cant deal with 800 bucks worth of stuff to pay for. The tokico blue suspension is like 400 bucks shipped.
Now I KNOW tokico isnt the best known brand for quality, but its certainly better than my stock susension... But my question is this... Id rather spend this 400 on a BRAND new suspension than buying used and having to send them out for rebuilding and stuff like that, paying MUCH more in the end...

Anybody have experience with the Tokico stuff? Whats the drop look like? Id assume its not all that stiff, but is it really soft? Im only leaning toward it because its the only cheap setup for the 91 318i.... Unless theres something I dont know about it.

$330 including shipping. Spring rates are 165 and 265. These are probably similar to the BavAuto lowering springs and OEM replacement shocks. I don't know anyone that actually has the kit on their car.
The Tokico Illumina shocks are adjustable and cost $400 a set. They are the ones the ricers rave about.

thanks D. Ive been doing a bit more research and am thinking for another 200 bucks I can get the Bilstein/HR combo from TurnerMotorsport. Im leaning more towards that now. From what I read, the tokico stuff isnt much different than stock stuff when it comes to the twisties.
The illumina adjustables arent available for 318i fitment, but i guess that doesnt matter either.
