Title: plastic coolant pipe removal
Post by: PaulC on November 19, 2007, 11:24:09 PM
Is there a trick to removing the plastic coolant pipe out of the block (under the intake)? I tried a search and found lots of great info, but still am not sure about this pipe. Most of the coolant and vacuum hoses need to be replaced and from what I've read this piece can also crack with age. Is there a seal?

TIA
Paul

(btw, the car has 88k mi and I've only had it 2 weeks)

No trick.  Just pull it out.  Buy the O-ring seal that goes with the new pipe.

fyi on mine I could not push the new pipe in with the o-ring on it by hand -- had to thread the two bolts and push it in that way.  Maybe some people are strong enough to push it in but I'm apparently a weakling :)
