Title: Rear Wheels spind and make bad noise???
Post by: no1_jazz on November 14, 2007, 08:18:29 AM
Hi Guys, Its kinda hard to explain but ill try my best rite.......

When i drive my car forward or even backards the as the rear wheels spin round it seems to make a sound which i can close to describe to a gun being fired but with no bullet in there its like a pop sound but dont knwo what it could be, some have said it could be the prop centre bearings now weather that is rite i dont knwo.

I mean the worst thing is i aint even got it checked up professionally because i cant even drive the car because after hearing the sound it makes you personally would just leve it there and work on it as where it is.

Has anyone come accross this problem or dose anyone knwo anyone who has had this problem and got it resloved.

any and every lil help will be much ppreciated

Cheers Jazz

Jack it up and put it on stands. Spin the wheels and shake stuff. It could be anything from the driveshaft to the rear wheels.

Bad wheel bearings can do this, but they generally make a grinding noise. Good luck!

Hi guy's,

I have tried it and no success. I personally think it’s the rubber doughnut which is warn. Does anyone know how much they are? and where is the best place to get them from? Lastly how hard or easy is it to replace?

Cheers Jazz

The rubber doughnut or center bearing on the driveshaft or somewhere else? If infact it is the center bearing it is about $70 for the bearing but you must have it pressed on. The shaft is simple to remove and take apart, just take the rear half shaft to a shop and tell them to press it on to the exact spot it was before, if it isn't it will go on you again. Good luck.
