Title: Anyone have a Metric Mechanic LSD?
Post by: bmwman91 on October 22, 2007, 05:49:07 PM
I have 2 cores, both open diffs.  I would really like to get a LSD unit.  Buying one used is cheap, but who knows how much life they have left.  The street LSD's MM has have piqued my interest, and I have 2 good-condition cores I could send in.  Granted, the shipping is probably going to kill me, but still.  What do people think of them?  Should I just go cheap & get a used LSD & send that in with the other 2 when it goes?

do they really go bad?  I have had LSDs on all 3 of my e30's and they all worked, one with over a quarter million miles.  and I thrashed all of them.  I would say pick up a used one.

You can always buy a rebuild kit from Bimmerworld or Diffs Online for a used LSD, if you pick one up.

depending on the cost, it may not be really needed. you cannot at all find a OEM LSD unit?

mine is original @ 156K in my car and spins both tires all day long (often on hills when i dont expect it! )
