Title: Sunroof problems
Post by: kramerica5000 on October 20, 2007, 03:22:50 PM
My sunroof is all the sudden harder to open and close, particularly when its just about to close or just opening. Its also not flush with I get to the closed point in the cranking . . . the left side is a bit lower than the roof, but the right side is flush. To get it flush I have to crank about a half turn more.

It seems like the cables are out of alignment. Anyone have any ideas or how to adjust the cables?

you might have to adjust it (ive never adjusted the cables but you can adjust the height so it sits flush). do you have a bentley manual? its really hard to explain without pics. they headliner for the sunrrof portion has to be moved out of the way and then you can gain access to the 4 torx bolts the have adjustment slots for aligning the roof. the headliner has 6 or so clips that pop off when you pull strainght down (carfull on this part) in the fron of the sunroof. then it sldes back giving you access to the bolts. loosen the bolts to adjust it. they might be loose already if the sunroof is out of alignment.

Its actually off on the track. The left side is about a quarter of an inch behind the right side. I think this is also why its tough to open and close . . . because its actually at a slight angle.

Is there a way to adjust how fore and aft position where it rides on the tracks?

hmmmm....i would remove the sunroof and check it out, and see whats going on. this is the one thing on the E30's that i dont have first hand experience with fixing. i would tear it apart to see whats broken. good luck.
