Title: Hydraulic lifters
Post by: Gunni on April 21, 2006, 04:07:59 AM
So are these things load?

I´m experiencing alot of noice from the engine when driving ticking noise or rattling kind,
it´s mostly under 4k and goes away above that,

I was wondering how exspensive the lifters are to replace

I have had a loud intermittent ticking noise on both of the two 318is's I have owned. Usually worse when cold. You can either put up with it or replace all 16 lifters. Not sure on cost.

Online you are looking at $16-$20 per lifter.  It is a big job to replace them, but it is doable with care & patience.

I bet lifters could be done in under an hour.  I've had my cams in and out 4 times now though
