Hey guys just got my car back together, but i have a question about the timing.
So as i was trying to turn it on, it sounds like all the cylinders are firing but not correctly... anyway it wont turn on.
i know this is a dumb question but if my timing is off enough will it not start?
The engine is not my specialty, suspension is, so i figured i would ask you guys that know more than i do.

it wont start if timming is off. or if it is close, it will start but the rev limiter will be at 3K and it will run like shit. check that all coils are pluged in correctly to the plugs -and- the ECU. do you have the bmw tool to set cam timming?

Thanks man, also when i was turning it over the engine was louder than normal??? any ideas? at first the oil light was on which went of (like usual when you change the oil) but it is still annoyingly loud.

The oil light is normal, it needs to prime everything after sitting.
Re-time it, and turn the motor over by hand to make sure nothing is contacting before trying to start. You could also be 180 degrees off.
