Title: Newbie Leather seats upholstery question
Post by: rr97guy on September 29, 2007, 09:57:19 PM
Gentlemen this is my first post so if this question is in the wrong  category excuse me. I just traded for a 91 BMW 318is, alpine white with black leather seats I think. The drivers seat is still fairly soft and supple, no tears or bad places at all.  the passenger seat and back seat are pretty stiff kinda like a rock. not tears or cracks completely intact allthough a little faded. my question is is there anything I can do about this or am I going to need to have them replaced or redone? Would some type of leather conditioner help.  I am not very knowledgeable about leather so if this is a dumb question forgive me. these seats are really nice with lumbar support and some other nice adjustments. I wonder if they are Recaros?  Rest of interior is in great shape no cracks or tears at all. carpet is in great shape.  This is my first BMW auto so I know I am going to have a lot of questions. The guy I bought it from was asking 2500.00 OBO  he took a honda 4 wheeler as full trade. Car unfortunately has salvage title allthough he claims not to know cars history.  It runs great, 5 speed tranny shift smooth, ac works great, car is clean inside and out, no oil or fluid leaks. moon roof works great no leaks. verything else works good only small problem dash light for speedo gos on and of on rough roads.  What do you think?  I hope I didn't get taken to bad.  I will post pictures later when I get a chance. only other annoyaince is brake lining warning is on allthough they look fine and brakes  are not squealing.
