Hey guys im a new guy. I just found this great site. I recently purchased a 1991 318is. I am an e36 guy so i am brand new to the e30s. I will have lots of questions for you guys. Here are some pictures of my car.
Plans so far are:
-Euro Grill
-Euro Smilies
-GroundControl Coilovers
-BBS RS if i can find some
I have no idea what kind of engine modifications are acctually worth doing?

Nice looking car there mate, smart retrim on the seats as well, or is that an American trim option?
-
thats the american option. Most US 318is cars have that interior. Other option was tan cloth, yuk.
-
Ya i have no idea im pretty sure its original.
I love the car so far. Definitely a fun car to drive.
-
welcome!!! nice clean car!
-
Only engine modification I would do right now is throw in a K&N filter into the stock airbox. The car looks pretty damn clean except for the iS lip.
-
Looks great. Have fun modding her.
FYI, there's a set of 15" RS' for sale on r3vlimited/bf.c. Same as the ones you see in my sig. They would look great on your car :)

Thanks guys.
I really would like a set of 16s. but i dont know i have to go make some money first. Ha i figured i would not want to mod this one as much as i wanted to mod my e36 M3 but its just as bad if not worse with this car:rolleyes:
I will have lots of questions for you guys eventually. From jumping around on the forum it looks like everyone is very helpful and knows alot. I look forward to learning everything i can from you guys.

As you guys can see the engine bay needs a good cleaning.

wouldnt that intake be sucking in the hottest air..free as it may be.. it also is going by all that hot engine stuff. i vote get rid of it. but other then that nice car
-
WELCOME!
Nice car. Loose the air intake.
-
What is the stock piece that goes there? The PO is the one that installed that.
-
Nice car, red can be an awesome color, fog lights would be great to!
-
Nice car!
Normally there is a short rubber ture that runs from the airbox to a hole in that plastic shield behind the back of the driver's side headlights.

Thanks. Where could i buy that or is there somekind of aftermarket replacment that i can buy? I think this weekend i will be cleaning the engine bay so i will be posting some more pics.
Also i remember seeing a write up on painting the engine covers black. Does someone know where it is? and how hard/how much time it will take?

You could post a thread in the WTB forum and/or contact members who are parting m42's. Good luck

Clean car. Engine mod: MarkD chip...do it ;) Aside from that, get all the maintenance, bushings, strut bar and the GC you mentioned and you'll have a pretty neat car. A good cat-back will also add a nice note to the engine, especially at 7200rpm :D
Edit: get the tube from the dealer. I'm sure it's not too expensive.

For the chip:

As for the bushings, it all depends on what kind of driving you'll be doing. If the car is going to see the track often, you might as well go polyurethane...
If its going to be a daily, the OEM stuff is more than enough to make the car handle well!
