Title: engine rebuild
Post by: slong27 on September 24, 2007, 08:31:05 PM
Would like someone to conform that the picture on page 11-42/10 of the downloaded manual in incorrect. I am referring to the positioning of the cam caps. They are showing gears on the left hand side E series near and A series far. That would make the intake valves smaller than the exhaust valves.
Thanks

E is Intake and A is Exhaust. On the rear of the cams are dimples. They should face up on install and the lobs at the front of the cams should face each other.

Right side is intake and left side is exhaust, when looking back from the crank pulley side.

Thanks... I got the other note also. I did notice that there is a tool to use for keeping the cams at tdc. Is there a drawing of it with dimensions. If I remember right the lobes are under pressure and the tool holds everything in place. I have access to a machine shop so making the tool is not a problem.
What would you say is the best procedure for re-assembly of components.

Thanks again for the help.
