Title: No gauges working
Post by: COandCA on September 18, 2007, 05:57:27 PM
Hey guys,

i just swapped in a fresh m42 into my 318is. Everything runs fine, however, when i start the car, the tach will read for a few moments then click off. THe water temp and the fuel gauges do not work either. I know the engine ground is good, fuse is 10 is good, are there any other grounds or relays i should check? could a bad sensor cause it? Let me know what i should look for.

Thanks

i also just realized that my windows will not go down and my reverse lights do not not work. This makes me think there is something crossed up in the wiring

Yep, time to go back through the harness..

Did you do anything under the fuse box, or under the dash?

no. all i did was unplug all the connectors from the motor. Is there a layout where all the plugs from the harness should go? i did it all from memory.

Try checking fuse 12 also. I just solved my cluster problem by replacing it.

Now I just need my turn signals and illumination lights to work.
