Title: Tire Size Recommendation: Advice Sought
Post by: Flatsix on September 14, 2007, 01:23:04 PM
Looking to run 16" 7.5" wide Ronal baskeweave's (believe offset is et15) on my car and need some advice on tire size.

Ideally I'd like to run 225/50/16 tire.  Any problem with running this size tire or do I need to go to a 225/45/16?  I'll likely need to use a 10mm-15mm spacer with either setup.

The tires I am looking at are either Yokohama ADVAN A048 or the BFGoodrich g-Force R1 both of which only come in the 225/50/16  Both of these products are track tires.

Also:  Any advice as to whether it's a BAD idea to run track tires on the street.  Note that I am not worried about rapid tire wear and the car will not be driven in the rain so wet condition driving is not a concern of mine.  My main concern is around whether the steering will hunt excessibly while going down the road, loss of comfort, noise, etc.  thanks for input/advice

You will probably need 45-ratio sidewalls or the tires will rub the fender linings in tight turns.

Super-soft tires on the street are OK if you don't care about spending a ton of money on replacing tires. They might be a little noisier, but if you get wet/dry ones, they should be fine in the rain. As far as steering goes, if you have a good alignment, you should be fine. It will be a bit more responsive, though.

Don't do it. They need a lot of heat to start working properly.

Hankook Ventus RS-2's come in 205/50/16. I mounted mine in August and have been satisfied with them thus far.
