Title: Best suspension set-up for the iS?
Post by: Ajay_iS on September 07, 2007, 06:40:30 AM
Looking to buy a suspension kit over here in the UK.

I have been told by an E30 specialist dealer that the KW sports suspension kit 55/35 is the best kit for the iS... not too sure as I never heard of any reviews.

It retails at £325 down here, I was thinking to go for the H&R cup kit beforehand...

Opinions will be appreciated.

what are you using the car for?
for daily driving i think the best setup is stock everything with new bushings front and rear, and new sport bilistien shocks.

But if you are going to track the car there are way better setups than stock, or if you do some spirited driving from time to time.

Go for HR springs and BILSTEIN shocks if you want your car to turn like a train....worked for me

As a track car the KW set up is among the best in its price range. Øhlins is in the premium class for track use. I belive the best set up for track/dayli driver is Bilstein b12 and some thicker antiroll bars front and back. It all depends on your use.

Most people in the U.S. tend to run H&R sports or race with bilstein sports. I have never heard anything bad about this setup.

I don't think there is a best suspension setup. It all depends on what you do with the car and how you drive it.

I have the C3Motorsport Coilovers.

I like everything about them, except the adjustable perch.

I like the Ground control adjustable perch better and may run a #500 spring in the front next season instead of #450

If you send your struts to GroundControl, they will install both the perches and the Swaybar tabs and powercoat them for you, not sure how much it costs though.

I got on the early Group buy on R3V and got it for $1400 shipped. Now i believe they are in the 1500-1550 range + Shipping.

They come with
4- Koni top adjustable
4- Adjustable spring perches
4- Eibach ERS springs 450F/750R
2- Weld on perches
2- M3 Swaybar mounts
2- Vorschlag Camber Plates (Best plates i have used!!)
2-TCKline Rear Shock mounts (with both e30 and e46 inserts)
2- Spanner Wrenches

Overall the kit is very high quality, and the customer service has been great. ill recommend them to anyone!

**But only if you want to change out all of your other worn out suspension parts.**

Because if you are still on the stock suspension and when you get under there and you see how bad everything is, you will want it fixed right.

I paid close to 2500 when it was all said and done.

Other thing i have (and recommend)
-M3 offset bushings (Switching to THR CAB)
-Rear Subframe Bushings
-Rear Control arm bushings
-IE Big Swaybars (on order)
-New Tierods
-New Control arms

KW springs have a good reputation. Dampers less so, would recommend Bilstein first and Koni second for general driving.
