So I want to try to put together a baseline for oil consumption for our cars/engine. This will only apply to those who are still m42 and not under boost. Sorry but N/A only. Also no cams, stroker kits or major head work (no porting & polishing; shaved head okay as long as a thicker head gasket was installed).
So if everyone would be so kind as to list:

All original motor except for TB heater plate deleted. 200,000 miles. I don't add oil between changes. Usually 1/2 quart or less low.
Castrol GT. straight 30 wt if available, otherwise 20W-50 every 3000 miles.
Does the catch can collect any oil?

6e) MC - Jim Conforti Chip
7) Other: I HAVE rebuilt the timing case and replaced all the gaskets on there, as well as both the upper & lower oil pan gaskets. I also repaired the threads for the valve cover bolts and replaced all the gaskets for the valve cover. That helped a LOT.

Yayy. was hoping for a thread like this. Between leaks from the pan gasket and burning, I'm at about 1/2 quart per 1500 miles. 197k miles on motor.
Engine is completely stock, right down to the original hoses (and vacuum leaks!) under the manifold lol. I'll be changing them next week.

Oil Weight: 10/30 in the winter, 15/40 in the summer. Swepco.
Last Oil change Date/Mileage: august some time, i cange it every 5K
Mods like I/H/E/CC/MC: resealed the entire motor 35K ago. and i rev the heck out of it (when its up to operating temp...never below 1/4 temp), i baby the motor, but im also EXTREMELY hard on it.
